4th & William Stair Tower and Elevator

Author: Andrea Miller/Wednesday, March 11, 2015/Categories: News, Parking Alerts

Patrons have let us know: the elevator at the Fourth & William parking structure is VERY slow. With the goal of addressing this, the DDA board worked with the engineering and parking consulting firm Carl Walker Inc to plan for the installation of a new stair tower and new elevators in the S.W. corner of the structure (the corner closest to Main Street).

The Fourth and William structure is the largest public parking structure.  The elevators are over 30 years old and need to be replaced to meet the needs of downtown residents, shoppers, visitors and employees.  Since this structure is in use every day, an important project goal is to utilize a phased construction plan that will allow patrons to continue to use the structure even as elevator and stair replacements take place.  Spence Brothers has been selected as the contractor for the project.  They will be providing weekly project updates so that neighbors and parkers can know what to expect.  Throughout the project the parking structure will remain open to both hourly and monthly parkers.

Please visit the DDA Website for updates and more information.
